Chicago Fire Boss Previews Fall Finale: Severide Is ‘Flummoxed’ by Stella
It’s Christmas time on this Wednesday’s Chicago Fire fall finale (NBC, 9/8c), but there won’t be much holiday cheer for Severide, whose fiancée Stella is still out of town and not responding to his messages.
“He’s kind of just put out because Stella has never really gone dark on him,” showrunner Derek Haas tells TVLine, “and she’s just not answering his calls or texts, or acting like she gives a damn about the events that are happening at 51. So he’s flummoxed in this episode.”
Meanwhile, Deputy District Chief Boden is feeling the pressure to name a permanent replacement for Casey’s position on Truck 81, but Stella’s radio silence has put him in a tricky situation. And in her absence, some new competition for the job has made a very positive impression on Boden. “You’ve got this new lieutenant who’s been subbing, named Pelham [played by Brett Dalton], that is pretty damn good,” Haas notes. “Boden needs to fill this spot and doesn’t like instability and is really concerned that Stella hasn’t come to claim it. So all of those dynamics are driving this episode.”
Elsewhere, Gallo and Violet’s will-they-or-won’t-they dynamic gets even messier as the pair and their business partner Ritter ready for Winterfest, “which is the place where they have a chance to get their microbrewery noticed by all the good people of Chicago, especially the bar owners,” Haas previews. The event takes place as Gallo is trying to profess his feelings for Violet, which is complicated by the fact “that he’s been seeing Cara the associate over there at [the] brewery, who affects his placement at Winterfest.”
Plus, there’s a new player in the love triangle, Paramedic Field Chief Hawkins, “who has taken a shine to Violet, and the complication of that, and [the fact that] he’s her boss,” Haas adds. “There’s a lot going on for the second half of the season after this episode airs.”
But first, there’s some uniquely festive rescue calls this week as only the firefighter drama can do them. “Of course, we’re Chicago Fire so we have to have a holiday episode where all of the holiday related ideas turn into disasters, with a giant Christmas tree falling over. Even the ambulance call — how to describe it without giving it away? — it’s a mouthful,” Haas teases with a laugh.

I hope they give Stella a good explanation on why she stop communication with her fiancé and all the stuff that is happening at firehouse 81. Plus we know it will not be easy for Stella claim her spot as Lieutenant of Truck 81 but I do hope she fights for it at the same time. My heart goes out to Severide because he never been in this position where Stella checked out on him before and it not in Stella character.
Bring Stella back…..if you destroy her and her fiance….I’m done!!!!
I have watched Chicago Fire from the beginning I hope that Stella gives Lieutenant of truck 81 she deserves it and I’m sure you guys will keep it spicy because it’s been spicy and then do and then spicy so hoping for a little bit more spice and a little bit more fire.

Exactly. I don’t want to see the arson detective get her hands on Severide. I don’t care for her and her being so obvious trying to take him away from Stella. If they are put together, I “ain’t watching” no more. Not a good match.
This noncommunication is out of character for Stella. she always has been approachable and a good friend. Why are the writers changing her character???

KellySeveride deserves ALOT more from his FIANCÉE. Why accept his marriage proposal on Season 9 just to ghost her fiancé for most of Season 10? I can literally just feel the emotional pain KellySeveride is going through. I literally wanna break into my Tv just to hug and comfort Kelly because he deserves to be HAPPY with his FIANCÉE by his side. Long distance relationship hurts knowing you’re far away from the one you love from within your heart. TRUST ME I feel Kelly’s pain not hearing from his FIANCÉE. (It’s my current status on a personal level)… Kelly’s best friend moved to Oregon to take care of the Darden boys & all he wants is to be REUNITED with his fiancee! Stella & Kelly’s relationship that led to their engagement proposal is why I fell madly in love with the show. Both KellySeveride and SylvieBrett are lonely without StellaKidd and MattCasey. Stella is Sylvie’s best friend and Kelly’s fiancée, his FUTURE WIFE. Likewise with Matt being Kelly’s best friend and Brett’s boyfriend. It literally breaks my heart seeing KellySeveride in so much emotional pain for not seeing or hearing from his FIANCÉE. At least let Stella come back to say she’s pregnant and needs to be on early maternity leave due to carrying triplets diagnosed as high risk pregnancy. STELLARIDE is MUSIC to my heart! Tonight’s episode 9 better have 30 minutes of Stella surprising Kelly with her pregnancy test and ultrasound as a reason of being away for nearly 2 1/2 months of Season 10. Stella finding out she’s pregnant 2 days after arriving in Boston to set up Girls on Fire is the BEST reason & ONLY EXPLANATION for holding off from her furlough extension. Morning sickness, cravings and mood swings could’ve been a factor to delay setting up Girls on Fire. After all, its Kelly’s dream to become a loving father to his triplets with Stella! STELLARIDE romance is music to my soul !! The moment I see OUR STELLARIDE REUNITE tonight, will be the moment I’ll be playing REUNITED & IT FEELS SOOO GOOD! STELLARIDE REUNITED AND all the fans are filled with tears of happiness and joy! Team STELLARIDE ALWAYS!!

If my fiancé left for 8 weeks and did not communicate with me, I would not welcome them back with open arms. What is stopping her from doing it again? Especially, since on the season 9 finale, Severide said, ‘I love you, Stella Kidd’ and gave a kiss to a stiff Stella Kidd, who did not say it back, and to rub salt in the wound, appeared to wipe the kiss from her lips. It is confusing that only Stella Kidd is the one that says Kelly Severide has checked out, and everyone believes her, yet, how many others go to Severide when they truly need someone to listen and be there. Stella may have been playing everyone, and the only time she showed her true self was in the fire that she accepted Severide’s proposal, as a blubbering, honest, loving idiot. Hey, go back, her timeline and things she says are manipulating, blarney, and self-obsessed. The only thing she didn’t plan on was falling truly in love, does she continue her charade? What can I say, her best friend Tyler, played the same games, which is why she couldn’t tell Severide he was right?

I would like/love to see Stella come back to Severide. They’ve had their ups and downs, and it would be a wonderful way to end this season – I look forward to every episode because the writers are creative and keep it as true as they can.

As a fan of Chicago fire, everything was looking great,all the fans were excited because we thought for sure that we were going to see Stella kid and severide finish up the year by getting married. However with her being gone for as long as she has been we’re now seeing it differently, to the point where we sort she would take over on Casey’s truck 81 and everything will fall in place. But that’s not the case. The biggest fear in a great show or TV series is that you start messing with the aura of the show, and then it goes into the toilet. Please bring Stella home so she can take control of truck 81 and continue her romance with Kelly and everybody would be happy.
Bring Stella back. Keep Severide. Get Casey back.
