The Matrix Resurrections Star Announces New Short Film Shot Entirely on Her Phone

There is little doubt that Jessica Henwick is going to kick ass in The Matrix Resurrections but her little independent project focuses on something closer to reality. The former Iron Fist star has revealed that she shot a short film while working on a major movie. The best part of it is that she filmed it entirely on her own phone!

Jessica Henwick recently spoke to GQ while promoting The Matrix Resurrections. However, she also opened up about a new pet project that she worked on while filming Knives Out 2. According to Henwick, the short film titled Bus Girl was filmed entirely on six Xiaomi Mi 11 smartphones including her own.

Henwick wrote, directed, and starred in the short film which was shot in a span of three days while she was on break from the Rian Johnson sequel. She also enlisted 50 people to help her shoot the project which was filmed entirely in an upscale London restaurant.

But what is Bus Girl about? Don't expect a sci-fi action flick. Henwick confirmed that the movie focuses on the art of cooking, something that she is truly enthusiastic about along with trying out new recipes.

It's great to know that Henwick still has time to work on her own short film despite her hectic schedule. The former Defenders star has been shooting a lot of major projects including The Matrix Resurrections and Knives Out 2. Henwick even found the time to lend her voice to Blade Runner: Black Lotus, the animated series set in the Blade Runner universe. With that in mind, we're looking forward to seeing her passion project Bus Girl soon.

Henwick will play the mysterious new character Bugs in The Matrix Resurrections, which will finally premiere in theaters and on HBO Max on December 22, 2021.
