Georgia basketball has struggled in its start as the Dawgs are currently 3-5 overall.

Usually, the fall portion of the season includes a lot of out-of-conference games, and SEC play will start in early January. This scheduling will accommodate this young team to play more together and learn about each other. Plus, it’s a five-game home streak, which is even more beneficial.

The five-game stretch begins with Jacksonville tonight with tipoff at 7 p.m. Georgia is coming into this game beating No.18 Memphis 82-79, giving head coach Tom Crean his 400th career victory.

That win was huge for the Bulldogs’ confidence, and now they can move forward in the right direction. With so many transfers, it’s been a challenge coming together as one.

Georgia basketball gets on track with this five-game home stretch to close out 2021.

With the next five games being at home, it’ll give them a great chance to do so against formidable opponents and an excellent opportunity to increase that win category.

Jacksonville won’t be a pushover as they are 4-2 overall, so the Dawgs will have to make sure they work on the camaraderie to win the game as one.

After Jacksonville, the Dawgs will welcome George Mason on Dec. 18, Western Carolina on Dec. 20, East Tennessee State on Dec. 22, and to close out the year, Gardner-Webb comes to town on Dec. 29.

When you have a team averaging double-digits, there is no reason to be losing games. These next five matchups will allow Crean and his staff to try different things to help these guys work as one.

The biggest thing is avoiding turnovers, doing better at the foul line, and rebounding better. These games are excellent opportunities for those kinds of changes. Plus, the Dawg fans need to show up and be loud like they did for Memphis. This team deserves the support regardless of their record, and it gives us something to do while the football team preps for Michigan.
