Danville improves to 6-1 with wins over Falkville, Vinemont

Danville opened up area play with a 58-50 win over Vinemont Friday.

Vinemont jumped out to a 13-11 first-quarter lead and led 23-21 at halftime; Danville however, exploded for 25 in the third quarter to take a 46-33 lead into the fourth.

The Hawks held on in the fourth for the eight-point victory.

Kohl Randolph had 12 points and eight rebounds to lead Danville. JoJo Whisenant added eight points and eight rebounds.

Kix Johnson led all scorers with a game-high 22 points for Vinemont.

Danville 46, Falkville 43
The Hawks jumped out to a 12-8 lead in the first quarter. Falkville outscored Danville 22-15 over the next two quarters to take a 30-27 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Hawks finished with a 19-13 final quarter to grab the three-point victory.

Randolph finished with a game-high 16 points to lead the Hawks. Whisenant added 12 points, and Carter Holladay had seven.

Joshua Bradford finished with a double-double, 10 points and 10 rebounds, to lead Falkville, while Avery Miller had 10 points and nine rebounds.

Falkville 63, Sumiton Christian 29
The Blue Devils outscored the Eagles in every quarter on their way to the 63-29 victory this past week. They led 30-14 at the half and cruised to the 34-point road win.

Bradford scored a game-high 13 points for Falkville (7-3). Miller finished with 12 points and seven rebounds, while Colton Hooper added 10 points. Caden Burnett had nine points and a game-high eight rebounds.

West Point 71, Brewer 60
The Warriors led 32-16 at halftime and came away with an 11-point victory over the Patriots.

Four Brewer players scored in double digits, with Russell Mahan and Austyn Holmes each finishing with 12 points. Tamerion Watkins and Hunter Lawrence each had 11 points in the loss.

Decatur 85, Brewer 45
The Red Raiders outscored the Patriots 13-2 in the final 2:52 of the first quarter to take a 21-12 lead and never trailed the rest of the way, leading 43-26 at halftime and outscoring Brewer 42-19 in the second half of the 40-point victory.

Watkins finished with 13 points to lead Brewer. Mahan added 10 points, and Kade George had nine points. Cooper Smith added six points and seven rebounds.

Isaiah Slaughter led five Red Raiders in double digits with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Stephen Mayfield added 12 points. Chandler Brown, Jayden Brown and Devin Walker each finished with 10 points.
