Fandoms of the Year 2021 is here and it features Supergirl, WandaVision and some other comic book classics.

FanSided’s Fandoms of the Year 2021 list has arrived. The list celebrates fan culture and shines a spotlight on the various aspects of sports, entertainment, music and everything in between that made us want to stand up and cheer in 2021.

As always, there is a wide variety of topics and genres celebrated and with 100 fandoms being honored, that’s an indicator of how much the idea of fandom itself is necessary, especially in a year like 2021.

The importance of fandoms is recognized across all genres in FanSided’s celebration but, as always, it’s nice to see some superhero representation on the Fandoms of the Year 2021 list.

There was a wealth of fandoms acknowledged on this year’s Fandoms of the Year list and, among that was some love for the comic book genre.

  • Supergirl – It’s no surprise that the Girl of Steel finds herself on the list. The Supergirl fandom has radiated passion since the show began and they continued to ensure that everyone was talking about this powerful series as it bowed out with its final season.
  • WandaVision – Unquestionably the biggest TV series of the year, WandaVision brought the record-breaking Marvel Cinematic Universe to the small screen, with everyone tuning in to see what was undoubtedly one of the most gripping and powerful TV shows of the decade.
  • MCU Shows – WandaVision wasn’t the only MCU series to be celebrated in FanSided’s Fandoms of the Year. The Falcon and the Winter SoldierLokiMarvel’s What If…? and Hawkeye all got the MCU fandom talking this year and it’s great to see them honored for doing so.
  • Lucifer – Arguably the most passionate fanbase in TV history, Lucifer‘s fans single-handedly managed to bring the show back from cancellation a number of years back as Netflix swooped in and saved it. They proved its ability to defy expectations again when its fifth and “final” season was followed by a sixth one. With the show finally bowing out in unforgettable fashion, it’s only fitting that its devoted fanbase is acknowledged – even more so that they earned the superlative of “Most loyal fandom”.

The comic book genre also received some love outside of the TV landscape on the Fandoms of the Year 2021 list, with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Adam Warlock, Marvel Video Games and Comic Books themselves all getting some well-deserved love.

We just can’t say enough about how important both these fandoms and the comic book genre were for fans this year and are thrilled to see them deservingly honored.
