Man killed in Cumberland County fire early Tuesday

Firefighters investigate an early morning fire Tuesday on Eureka Avenue that killed one man.

Arson detectives are investigating a fire in which a man died early Tuesday off Honeycutt Road, Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Lt. Patrice Bogertey said. 

The fire was reported at 4:19 a.m. at 1664 Eureka Ave., a news release from the Fayetteville Fire Department said. 

 When firefighters arrived on scene, the single-wide mobile home was engulfed in flames, the release said.

Fayetteville Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Joseph McLamb said the  man who was killed lived in the home. He is believed to have been the sole occupant at the time of the fire. 

His identity has not yet been released. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fayetteville Fire Department and the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office. 

Bogertey said that the cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious.
