Police arrest suspect in SC a week after downtown Salisbury shooting

SALISBURY, N.C. — The Salisbury Police Department made an arrest in connection to a shooting that happened Dec. 7 in downtown Salisbury.

Police said the shooting happened along West Horah Street in downtown Salisbury, not far from the VA hospital. They did not release any details about what led up to the shooting.

Officers told people to avoid the area while they investigated.

Salisbury officers thanked the North Carolina SBI as well as SLED for their help in finding and arresting Edward.

On Dec. 9, the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division arrested James Edward Jr., 29, on charges of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill. Edward was arrested at a home in South Carolina and is waiting for extradition back to Rowan County.

Authorities asked anyone with information about the shooting, including home security camera video, to call Lt. Crews at 704-638-5333.
