Doctor Who star Mandip Gill has addressed her future on the show beyond Jodie Whittaker's era.
The future of Gill's character Yasmin 'Yaz' Khan is up in the air as the 13th Doctor's run comes to an end with three feature-length specials in 2022, including the New Year special Eve of the Daleks.
In a recent interview with RadioTimes, Gill said: "What's great about Doctor Who is that the audience are so open to old and new characters all the time. They don't need a whole new cast every time it starts with a new Doctor."

And when asked if she would stay on with another Doctor, she replied: "I've loved every minute of the journey. And actually, that'd be some time in the future that that would happen.
"But I'd say… never say never."
Gill joined the cast of companions as Yaz alongside Ryan (Tosin Cole) and Graham (Bradley Walsh) in season 11, Jodie Whittaker's first season. Cole and Walsh left at the end of season 12 – leaving Gill as Whittaker's longest running companion.

There is precedent for companions to stay for an extended time.
Rose Tyler featured in two seasons (27 episodes) as a full-time companion to two different Doctors. Amy Pond joined the 11th Doctor over three seasons (33 episodes) and Clara Oswald stayed for three seasons (31 episodes) alongside the 11th and 12th Doctors.
As Gill approaches a similar length of time, flexibility could be given for her to bridge over into the next Doctor.
Gill added: "You also never know with this series. A lot of why it works is because there are a lot of secrets, and then a lot of revelation. And it's really exciting. And that's actually what people love is that they don't know what’s around the corner, but they always get to guess."
Doctor Who's Eve of the Daleks will air on New Year's Day. Doctor Who: Flux (aka series 13) is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
