Coronation Street aired Grace Vickers's final scenes as the character left Weatherfield and baby Glory behind.

In tonight's (December 6) episodes, Grace (Kate Spencer) said goodbye to the cobbles after she signed her parental rights over to Michael (Ryan Russell), with his parents Aggie (Lorna Laidlaw) and Ed Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges) overseeing the transition.

They secretly paid Grace £20,000 so that she could be out of the picture and give Michael the chance to provide Glory with a better life.

Unbeknownst to Michael, Ed and Aggie asked Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) to draw up a legal document stating that Grace is an unfit mother. Adam explained the document isn't legally binding, but will prove helpful should Grace return unexpectedly to claim custody of Glory.

"This is the last of it," Ed told Aggie, relieved they wouldn't have to deal with Grace anymore.

"She doesn't wanna be a mum," Ed continued, reassuring his wife that they were going to help Michael bring baby Glory up.

"It's still so heartbreaking," Aggie replied, almost forgetting her past disagreements with Grace.

Ed, on the other hand, was adamant that taking over Glory's custody would be for the best.

"I can sleep now knowing that our grandchild is not under that woman's care," he told his wife.

As Grace was getting ready to leave, Aggie asked her if she wanted to cuddle her baby one last time.

"It wouldn't be right if I didn't give you the chance to say goodbye," Aggie said.

"Do you wanna hold her?" she then asked.

But a tearful Grace refused, pleading for the couple to just make Glory "happy".

"And tell her that I am… no… don't tell her anything about me at all," Grace said, before going away for good.

Later on, Ed and Aggie lied to their son, telling him that Grace had willingly given him full custody of Glory to have a fresh start.

An incredulous Michael ran after Grace, pleading her to stay so they could work a co-parenting arrangement for the baby's sake.

"She's better off without me," Grace told him, not disclosing that Aggie and Ed had pressured her into making such a tough decision.

"Just forget about me, okay? Get on with your life," she finally said, dragging her suitcase on the cobbles and never looking back.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7.30pm on ITV.
