HIGHLANDS COUNTY, Fla. — A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday and affects all of the Tampa Bay area.
The fog has limited drivers' visibility to 1/4-mile or less.
Because of this, Highlands County school leaders say district school buses have been paused as a "safety precaution."
The district said it would attempt to resume bus services for elementary students between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. Services for secondary schools are set to resume between 9:40 and 10:40 a.m.
School leaders add that students who arrive late today will not be marked tardy as a result of bus or parent transportation delays.
