An Italian man who attempted to forgo his COVID-19 vaccine by wearing a silicone arm now says his life is “ruined” after his scheme was exposed.

“Go away. I’ll call the Carabinieri,” Russo continued.

MAN WEARS FAKE ARM IN ATTEMPT TO GET VACCINE CERTIFICATE

Russo, a 57-year-old dentist, attempted to fool a nurse, who was administering the vaccine, with the fake arm before ultimately admitting to his plot.

“The color of the skin was anomalous, much lighter compared to the hands or the face of the patient,” said nurse Filippa Bua. “I first felt sorry for the man, thinking that he had a prosthesis and wondering if I had somehow forced him to give me the wrong arm, … But then he admitted he was wearing the fake arm on purpose to avoid getting the vaccine!”

Bua said the attempted bamboozle offended her.

“At the very beginning, I was surprised. Then I was angry. I felt professionally offended. He showed no respect for our intelligence and our profession,” Bua explained. “I would never expect such a thing in my life.”

Russo told the nurse he needed the vaccine certificate in order to work, la Repubblica reported. He is being investigated for attempted fraud over the incident and has reportedly been suspended from his dental practice.

The president of the Biella medical association, Franco Ferrero, said Russo’s attempt shows “a lack of respect” for the medical profession.

“An action like this would be serious for anyone, but it is even more serious because it offends our profession and our order,” Ferrero told the newspaper of Russo’s actions. “It is a lack of respect towards those who in these two years of pandemic have worked with self-denial and a spirit of service even at detriment to his own health.”
