Some on Georgia football message boards believe that head coach Kirby Smart is doing the bidding of Alabama and Nick Saban.

The Georgia Bulldogs were the favorites entering the SEC Championship Game this past Saturday against the Alabama Crimson Tide. They were undefeated throughout the year, thanks to their dominant defense. Instead, it was Alabama who ran away with the conference title in a 41-24 victory.

Georgia fans were undoubtedly upset about the team unable to clinch the top seed in the College Football Playoff. Some were upset with the performance and decision-making of head coach Kirby Smart. But some on Georgia message boards expressed their belief that smart…is an Alabama sleeper cell?

Yeah, take all of that with a grain of salt.

Smart did work under Saban in his coaching career. From serving as defensive backs coach of LSU in 2004, to working at Alabama with Saban first as a defensive backs/associate head coach (2007) before serving as defensive coordinator (2008-15).

Since joining Georgia, Smart has not earned a single win against Saban in four meetings, and that includes the 2021 SEC Championship Game loss. But, there is a chance that they meet one more time this season.

Georgia received the third seed in the Playoff and will face the Michigan Wolverines in the Orange Bowl on New Year’s Eve. If they were to win, and if Alabama were to beat the undefeated Cincinnati Bearcats in the Cotton Bowl, the two will have a rematch in the CFP National Championship Game.

Smart and the Bulldogs will look to get their revenge against Alabama not just with a victory over them, but hoisting the national title.
