Season 19 has been one of the most seismic seasons of NCIS we have had in a while, with series mainstay Mark Harmon deciding to leave after nearly two decades and Gary Cole joining the show as Alden Parker. With so much change afoot on the procedural, fans are probably ready for a break.
Luckily, CBS is about to give them one. The next episode of NCIS ("Collective Memory") will be the show's final episode of 2021, after which time the show is taking a few weeks break.
We already know exactly when the show will be back in 2022 with new episodes. Here's how long NCIS viewers have to wait before they get to see more NCIS.
'NCIS' Season 19, Episode 10 Release Date
The CBS show is coming to an end for 2021 on Monday, December 6 after its 8 p.m. ET episode that night. After that point, the show is taking a four-week break until the first week of January.
Specifically, NCIS Season 19, Episode 10 will air on Monday, January 3, with the show keeping to its new timeslot of 8 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CT.
What NCIS will look like will depend on the cliffhanger from the winter finale, the details of which are mostly being kept under wraps. We do, however, have a synopsis for the episode, which reads: "When a hotshot financial advisor is found shot at a naval station, NCIS investigates the case by interviewing the victim's three-dimensional hologram of herself, which she created before her death."
Currently, CBS has not released an episode title or synopsis for the winter premiere.
If fans are looking for more NCIS content to tide them over, they can catch up on every episode so far (that is over 400) on Paramount+.
As for the other franchises, NCIS: Hawai'i is also finishing for 2021 on December 6 and returning on January 3. NCIS: Los Angeles, meanwhile, went on hiatus back in November and is coming back to CBS on Sunday, January 2 at 9 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. CT.
In a TVLine interview, showrunner Steven D. Binder hinted that the show would go back to being more procedural when the show returns, in contrast to the more overarching story episodes that began Season 19. He said: "I think it's time for us to sort of regroup and get back to telling good mysteries of the week with interesting characters, interesting stories, emotional hooks, and a satisfying ending."
Cole has also teased that we get more backstory for his character as the season continues, telling TV Insider: "There's a situation that did not go according to plan, and something tragic happened. He's purposely kind of an enigma."
