Man hospitalized in St. Joe after car lands on undercarriage of pickup

HOLT COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just before 6:30p.m. Sunday in Holt County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2018 Ford F150 driven by Wyman R. Mather, 73, Weeping Water, Nebraska, was northbound in the driving lane on Interstate 29 three miles south of Mound City.

The Ford's towed unit became unattached but the safety chain remained attached. As the Ford swerved into the passing lane, a northbound 2017 Honda Accord driven by Terry J. Wilson, 54, Bellvue, Nebraska, struck the rear drivers side door of the pickup. Both vehicles traveled off the road. 

The Ford pickup struck an embankment an overturned. The Honda came to rest on the undercarriage of the Ford.

Atchison-Holt ambulance transported Mather to Mosaic Life Care. Wilson was not injured.  Both drivers were properly restrained, according to the MSHP.
