  • Jason Barner posted the footage from his yard to Facebook to raise awareness

This is the moment two intruders were caught on video unplugging and deflating Christmas decorations in someone's front yard.

A doorbell camera was activated when two people started prowling around Jason Barner's yard outside his home in Seymour, Tennessee, on December 1.

The footage shows a woman scuttling up to the porch and unplugging the power cord linked to the blow-up festive figures which instantly started to collapse.

She, and another figure in the background, instantly run away as a huge inflatable Santa Claus faceplants onto the ground.

Mr Barner said: 'I immediately went down to see what was going on, but was very unnerved by what I saw.'

He posted the footage on the Neighbors of Seymour Facebook group alongside the caption: 'Anyone know who this person is? Not sure if she was creeping around just to turn off our Christmas blow ups or intended on stealing some - either way I am a bit annoyed

'So it seems there was two people - second person is by our Santa and runs off when she does.'

Several people responded to say they had suffered similar actions and suspected they were down to the same culprits.

Michelle Bont wrote: 'Are you our neighbors? They just got ours too.... Hood rat brats! Got me all tore up lol.'

She added: 'They unplugged each individual one. And we have many.' The recorded footage shows the people skulking around in the dark before one unplugs the power cord linked to the decorations

As soon as the power cord is unplugged the figures immediately sprint away into the night

But other viewers said it was just teenage pranks rather than anything sinister.

Kelly Curtis said: 'Maybe this is the newest version of toilet papering a yard. Looks like kids playing pranks. No damage or theft?

'Just kids unplugging lights? Seems pretty harmless.'

And Jessica Thompson agreed: 'Yes seems like kids just being kids. It doesn't feel good at first but then you seen teens on the security camera it makes you reflect to when you were young and just have your own teenager go plug them all back in.

Social media users responded to Mr Barner's post with some saying they believed they had also been targeted by the people and others saying it's just children being children

'No harm done.'

Tricia Schmitz Divis added: 'Better to be unplugging your lights for laughs than stealing your stuff to get high.'

But Christina J Hammer disagreed and replied by simply saying: 'That's next!'

Mr Barner said he was 'saddened when I learned these individuals had been doing this to other homes.'
