Ingo Rademacher Opens Up About His GENERAL HOSPITAL Exit

Tags:

It’s been nearly a month since the news broke that Ingo Rademacher would be vacating GENERAL HOSPITAL as Jasper “Jax” Jacks — a role he’d played on and off for 25 years. Jax made his final appearance on November 22 after telling ex-wife Carly that he was headed back to Australia to oversee some business dealings, a plot point facilitating Rademacher’s departure after declining to comply with the COVID-19 vaccination mandate that went into effect at GH on Nov. 1.

The announcement that the fan favorite was “no longer part ” of the GH cast came via Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) on Twitter, who shared the news as part of a tweet showing her support for transgender castmate Cassandra James (Terry) after Rademacher had shared a transphobic post in an Instagram Story. Shortly afterward, Rademacher made a video responding to accusations that he’s transphobic, promising that he would later address his status with the soap. Now, finally, the actor has opened up about his much-discussed exit in a taped message shared with his Instagram followers.

“So this is my official video to say that I’m no longer on the show,” Rademacher began, speaking from his car. “Which I never got a chance to do because Nancy announced it to everyone on Twitter, saying that I was ‘mercifully’ no longer on the show. Which was a huge disappointment to me. After having worked with somebody for 25 years, you would think they would show a little bit more respect and have a little bit more integrity and allow me to make that announcement to the fans.”

Apologizing for his delayed response, Rademacher thanked his followers and fans of the soap, as well as the cast and crew he’d worked with for over two decades. “They were like my family, a lot of the people there, and I was really hoping that I could play Jax for another 10 or 25 years. And unfortunately, that’s not going to happen. I want to thank you guys for sticking with Jax for 25 years and I’m sorry that I’m not there anymore to play Jax. Which is still something that I’m trying to process. It’s just kind of crazy. I’ve enjoyed meeting many of you over the years.”

Rademacher also shared his thoughts on medical freedom and GH’s vaccination mandate. “I do not agree with corporations ever, ever being able to mandate a vaccine to keep your job, to keep your livelihood,” he stated. “And a lot of people were coerced and forced into taking the jab otherwise they would lose everything. And that’s not a choice.”

Before signing off, Rademacher circled back to his appreciation for his fans, promising that he would soon have more news to share. “Again, just a big thank you to all of you guys. And thank you so much for supporting me for 25 years. And I’m sorry I’m not there for another 25 years because that would have been a lot of fun.”
