Street vendor hospitalized after being stabbed during Midtown robbery: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A street vendor was sent to the hospital after he was stabbed during a robbery in Midtown on Sunday night, according to the NYPD.

The incident happened at approximately 7 p.m. near the intersection of Broadway and West 50th Street in the Theater District, officials said.

According to police, the suspect grabbed a bag from the victim who then attempted to stop the thief.

When the vendor attempted to stop the suspect from stealing his good, he stabbed the vendor, police said.

The victim was transported to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, officials said.

The suspect made off with a stolen handbag, according to the NYPD.

So far there have been no arrests and an investigation is ongoing.
