Police presence upped at Elk Grove school after possible threat, district says
Law enforcement will increase their presence at Laguna Creek High School "out of an abundance of caution" in response to a possible threat online, the Elk Grove Unified School District said on Monday.
The district said it was acting after a possible threat on social media that referenced “LCHS.” The local social media posting was traced to someone who was identified and contacted.
"The threat has been deemed not credible," spokesperson Xanthi Soriano said. "Out of an abundance of caution, there will still be a police presence on the Laguna Creek High School campus today and tomorrow."
Soriano said students are encouraged to follow the guidelines of “if you see something or know something, say something.”
“We have asked parents to please take some time to remind their student that any threat spoken or written, which indicates doing harm to any person on a school site, will be taken seriously, will involve law enforcement and parents and will be investigated,” Soriano said.
