The week has been quiet and uneventful outside of season-ending injuries to Christian McCaffrey and Donte Jackson. Then, the bombshell hit that Matt Rhule fired offensive coordinator Joe Brady on Sunday.

Many were not anticipating this personnel move as the timing should have happened right after the team’s 33-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins, maximizing the bye week window to shuffle the coaching staff’s responsibilities on offense and prepare the players for the Atlanta Falcons coming to town in Week 14.

The Panthers are now left with five weeks to close out the season amid the chaos.

While the departure of Brady was inevitable knowing he was a hot name for coaching roles at both the collegiate and professional levels, the timing here is classic Rhule time mismanagement. Something that’s been evident throughout his tenure both on and off the field.
