Marshfield Community Christmas telethon set for Friday

Community Content

The Marshfield Community Christmas Telethon will take place this year on Friday, Dec. 10 from 7 to 10 p.m. The format will once again be different than in the past, because the studio will not be open for live talent or an audience due to COVID-19. People will be able to call in to donate or bid on auction items by calling 339-793-0592 or 781-733-0462 during the telethon.

The telethon will be broadcast live on Marshfield Cable TV public access channels for Verizon and Comcast. This year’s format will once again feature taped performances and a visit from Santa Claus. Please remember that all bids and pledges must be done by phone.

Marshfield Community Christmas has had to make changes to their operation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bill Bowers, Vice President of Coastal Heritage Bank, will be joining Michael Maresco again as co-host of this exciting event. Organizers have talent lined up including dancing groups, singers, MHS music students, story readers and local performers. Once again, the community has donated fantastic auction items such as a foursome at Marshfield Country Club, art work from Donna Rosetti Bailey and David Brega, gift baskets, wine, car servicing package from Lucchetti's, care detailing from Crystal Clear Detail, Verc Car Wash gift certificates, a child’s battery powered easy drive Mercedes, 14K yellow gold marquis shaped Garnet earrings and many more items.

Please mark your calendar, invite your friends over to watch the telethon on Friday, Dec. 10. Let us entertain you with our great talent to inspire your generosity to call in your bids on these great auction items. The high bidders will receive a call on Saturday morning notifying you that you in fact were the highest bidder and then you will need to come to the Community Christmas office located at the Marshfield Fairgrounds to pick up your item and drop off your check between the hours of 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11.

Proceeds raised from the telethon will be used to fund Marshfield Community Christmas.

Families who need assistance must call the Community Christmas Office to file for assistance at 781-837-8405. You will need to call even if you received assistance last year. No gifts or community care will be accepted once again this year. Instead Community Christmas will be giving out gift cards for food and parents or guardians to purchase presents.

Anyone who would like to donate an auction item for the telethon is ask to call Michael Maresco at 781-733-0462. Thanks to the Town of Marshfield local businesses and our residents, Marshfield Community Christmas was able to help 256 families and 603 children share in the magic of Christmas in 2020. Anyone wishing to make a donation may do so by mailing their checks to Marshfield Community Christmas at P.O. Box 713, Marshfield, MA 02050.
