A misunderstanding causes mayhem on the cobbles when Max wrongly accuses Daniel of sleeping with Summer. Max has developed a huge crush on his teen mentor, but is jealous as Summer is going to Daniel for help with her Oxford University application.

As Summer suffers a sudden dizzy spell, Daniel grabs her arm to steady her, while suspicious Max is nearby filming their exchange. The lad is convinced something untoward is going on and rifles through Summer's bag, finding the love poem Daniel wrote down for her.

Jumping to the wrong conclusion, Max gets drunk at the Ice Ball and ends up publicly accusing the teacher of abusing his position with Summer. Daniel is horrified by Max's allegations and tells Summer what he has said. She vows to put her mate straight, but when she humiliates Max, his anger erupts and he punches Daniel.

As everyone reels in shock, Max shows Mrs Crawshaw his film footage and the poem he found in Summer's bag, while Daniel insists he has never behaved inappropriately with a pupil.

Elsewhere, devastated Summer swears that Max is telling lies, but alarm bells are ringing for Paul when she later says that Daniel couldn't act upon their emotional connection because of his position. Convinced his flatmate has been grooming Summer, Paul goes straight to the police.
