Williams rushed 23 times for 102 yards and corralled six of nine targets for 76 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 22-9 loss to Kansas City.

Melvin Gordon (hip) missed his first game of the season, opening the door for Williams to shine on the national stage. The 2021 second-round pick set a season high of 178 total yards while dominating the backfield touches (29 of 34). Williams has been a solid fantasy contributor while splitting time with Gordon this year, but he finally got to show the world that he can handle a lead-back role -- at least for one week. Gordon's status for next Sunday's matchup against the Lions is unclear at the moment, but Williams would see a significant boost in value if he was the Broncos' lone back next week. If Gordon does suit up, both players will have appeal in a favorable matchup against Detroit's shoddy defense.
