Fans of American muscle were heartbroken when Dodge brand CEO Tim Kuniskis announced the end of the current Challenger. But he promised to build the iconic car for two more years. Until 2024, he is “feeding the beast” with special editions galore. Though SRT is being disbanded, the legendary team pulled out all the stops for this model year. The result is three separate 2022 Dodge Challenger SRT cars.

The Dodge Challenger Hellcat will go down in history as one of the burliest muscle cars of the internal combustion era. It all began with a secret project by the Street and Racing Technology (SRT) team. Their task was simple: the baddest engine in MOPAR muscle history.

The SRT engineers pioneered the first factory-supercharged Dodge V8–ever. The result was a 6.2-liter (376 cubic-inch) V8 with a 2.4-liter supercharger. The supercharger makes 11.6 pounds of boost, bumping the engine up to an incredible 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. The supercharger system sucked so much air, the SRT team actually needed to remove one of the Challenger’s four headlights and make it an intake. They unofficially codenamed the project “Hellcat,” but as production neared, marketing decided that name summed up the car pretty well.

For 2022, the Challenger SRT Hellcat makes 717 horsepower and 656 lb-ft of torque. Customers can choose between a six-speed manual TREMEC transmission or an eight-speed automatic. Incredibly, the 2022 Challenger Hellcat supercar starts at just $64,675.

With all that horsepower, many Hellcat owners find their car struggles to put all the power to the pavement. Therefore, SRT developed the 2022 Challenger Hellcat widebody. Factory-fit fender flares make room for a lot more rubber. With the widebody package, the 2022 Challenger’s tire width goes from nine inches to 11 inches. This improves acceleration, braking, and even handling.

Dodge SRT introduced the Hellcat in 2015. At some point, the performance aficionados at Dodge must have grown bored of the car. They greenlit the Hellcat Redeye. The SRT team broke down the Hellcat engine and retuned it for a staggering 797 horsepower. The engine was so powerful, SRT could only pair it with the automatic transmission.

The resulting 2022 Challenger Hellcat Redeye is fast. It can accelerate to 60 MPH in just 3.4 seconds. If you keep the pedal down, it can then run the 1/4-mile in just 11.10 seconds.

The 2022 Challenger Hellcat Redeye starts at $76,275. And though that’s a lot of performance, the Redeye Widebody is faster still. But the Widebody kit is a $4,000 option.

For a time, the top-trim Dodge Challenger SRT was the Dodge Demon. This 1/4-mile monster was a drag-race-only machine. After the limited-production Demon, SRT set about creating a new top-trim, race-ready Challenger. The result is the Super Stock.

Somehow, SRT was able to tune the 6.2-liter V8 for even more horsepower. It is rated at 807 horsepower. Rumor is it’s capable of more, Dodge just did not want to outdo the 808 horsepower Demon.

In addition, every track-oriented Super Stock Challenger is a Widebody. The 2022 Dodge Challenger Super Stock starts at $85,675.
