New York Assemblyman Clyde Vanel has announced he's running for New York attorney general.
Assemblyman Vanel (D) represents several areas downstate in the 33rd district of Queens, including Cambria Heights - where he was born and raised.
He now serves as a subcommittee chair on the State Assembly with a focus on internet and new technology.
He says he's fought for affordable internet, and to prevent scammers from taking advantage of seniors. He says that part of his platform is economic justice and public safety, as well as consumer protection.
"...the working people on New York are going through a difficult time right now."
When asked if he would have handled the investigation into former Governor Cuomo and sexual harassment accusations, Vanel says that he would "have followed the same line" as the Attorney General's office did.
Venel is a son of Haitian immigrants, and one of ten siblings
Vanel has also owned restaurants, his own law practice, and an internet business. He also says he's an avid pilot.
He is one of eight candidates who have announced bids for the position of attorney general.
