Still unclear whether Jussie Smollett will take the stand in trial

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The trial against Jussie Smollett to resume Monday but it's still unclear whether or not the actor will take the stand.

Smollett's lawyers have yet to say whether the former "Empire" star will take the stand but experts said he'll likely have to tell his side of the story to win over a jury.

Chicago defense attorney April Preyar told the Chicago Sun-Times the defense has put some dents in the state's case, which claims Smollett hired brothers Olabinjo and Abimbola Osundairo to stage an attack against himself.

The prosecution rested its case on Thursday.

Judge James Linn told jurors he expects to send them the case for deliberation early this week.
