D’Angelo Russell on Minnesota Timberwolves’ injury report, questionable for Monday

NBA: Minnesota Timberwolves at Brooklyn Nets

The Minnesota Timberwolves are dealing with their fair share of injuries following a narrow loss to the Brooklyn Nets Friday evening.

Star big man Karl-Anthony Towns missed the aforementioned game with a tailbone injury. Now, it looks like D’Angelo Russell could potentially join him on the bench.

According to our Dane Moore, Russell has popped up on the Wolves’ injury report with right ankle soreness and is questionable for Monday’s outing against the Atlanta Hawks.

In addition to this, veteran guard Patrick Beverley is also questionable with a groin injury that has cost him each of the past five games. The Minnesota Timberwolves are 2-3 without their defensive stopper in the mix.

The good news? Stud young forward Jaden McDaniels is probable to play against Atlanta after missing the past three games due to a non-COVID related illness.

At 11-12, Minnesota doesn’t boast the margin for error to see two of its top-three players miss action.

As for Russell, he’s picked it up big time recently after struggling to open the season. The former Los Angeles Lakers’ No. 2 pick is averaging 20.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 7.2 assists over the past 15 games.

After running off a five-game winning streak last month, the Wolves have lost three of their past five and find themselves under .500. Getting their core group back in short order has to be in the cards here. With three consecutive home games against winning teams this week, that’s magnified further.
