"But, their dream soon turns into a waking nightmare when they accidentally the home of Leatherface, the deranged serial killer whose blood-soaked legacy continues to haunt the area's residents – including Sally Hardesty, the sole survivor of his infamous 1973 massacre who's hell-bent on seeking revenge," the streaming platform said.

The role of Hardesty was recast after the death of Marilyn Burns, the actress who originally played the character in the 1974 film.

The trailer begins by showing the home of Leatherface, and the legacy he leaves there. The killer returns for his serial killing tools, his mask and chainsaw, and is seen subsequently chasing the new residents through the house and sawing through the floorboards as they try to hide.

It is a scary reintroduction to the horror legacy, and (most) horror fans will likely be excited for this reimagining.

Writer Fede Alvaarez said: "Me and Rodo [my writing partner] really wanted to make sure we don't disappoint the fans and we are [among them]. So it's pretty hardcore. But, at the same time, it as the simplicity of that first film. We wanted to come up with a very simple premise [with] a powerful domino effect."

The film takes place years after the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre but it will certainly take its lead from the 1974 classic.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre will air on Netflix on February 18, 2022.
