Last year’s sci-fi thriller, Raised by Wolves, released the first look at its second season in a new teaser trailer. The HBO Max series is created by Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners) and executive produced by House of Gucci director, Ridley Scott. Check out the first glimpses of Raised by Wolves 2 below.
Set far in a dystopian future, two androids known as Mother and Father are programmed to raise a sect of children on a barren planet. Amidst the experiment, a human war between religious zealots and a technological future erupts. As the situation evolves, Mother and Father are forced to adapt new protocols to their programming, eclipsing the line between robot, human, and ultimately, free will.
According to ScreenRant, the second season finds the parental advisors aligning with an atheist colony. As they continue on their mission to raise their family, Mother’s natural child – which she received from her creator prior to her deployment – poses a threat to the human family and others. Meanwhile, the season looks to explore how the droids’ continued development of human emotion and thought signals danger for existence as a whole.
The series stars Amanda Collin (A Horrible Woman, Resin) and Abubakar Salim (Assassin’s Creed: Origins) as Mother and Father, respectively. They are joined by their “son” Campion played by Winta McGarth (Aloft, Boys in the Trees); religious leader Caleb portrayed by Travis Fimmel (Vikings, Warcraft); his partner Sue, played by Niamh Algar (Calm with Horses, Deceit); and their human son, Paul, portrayed by Felix Jamieson (The Ghost).
Premiering in September of 2020, the series was originally set for a linear release on WarnerMedia’s TNT in 2018, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Given the changing landscape of television viewership and streaming, it shifted to HBO’s streaming service in 2019. The first season was certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a 74 percent critics’ score with an audience tally of 77 percent. It was handed a season renewal two weeks after its premiere on HBO Max.
Raised by Wolves 2 will premiere on February 3 only on HBO Max.
