On December 5, “My Teen Girl” aired its second episode featuring the continuation of the contestants’ “entrance exams”!

MBC’s “My Teen Girl” is a new audition show that evaluated 160 contestants over the course of three months before filming its premiere. Out of the 160 contestants, 83 were chosen to participate in the competition to place within the final top 7 and debut in a new girl group. Yoon Kyun Sang is the MC, and the students are divided into Grades 1-4 by age, with each class having its own homeroom teacher: either Girls’ Generation‘s Yuri, Aiki(G)I-DLE‘s Soyeon, or Ock Joo Hyun.

The first mission was an entrance exam that only 10 students of each grade would pass, leaving a total of 40 contestants. To pass the first round of the mission and be judged by the mentors, the contestants had to receive votes from more than 75 percent of the audience. If they got a pass from 75 percent of the audience during their performance, the barrier between them and the mentors would lift, and they would receive a second round of judging from the mentors.

The first group to perform on Episode 2 included Minami, Takei Karina, and Fukumoto Hina, who performed Girls’ Generation’s Japanese version of “Genie.” After they passed the first round of audience votes, only Minami received four judges’ votes and was able to move on to the next round.

Next up were Grade 1 students Park Bo Eun and Jung Si Woo, who were known among the other contestants for resembling BLACKPINK‘s Jennie. Naturally, the duo performed Jennie’s “SOLO,” and they easily passed both rounds of judging.

The next duo were both named Soo Bin and dressed exactly the same. Kim Soo Bin and Choi Soo Bin sang Celeb Five‘s “I Wanna Be a Celeb,” showing off their incredible rhythm and synchronization. After impressively becoming the group with the highest number of audience votes, the pair easily received enough votes from the mentors to move onto the next round.

Next was Lee Tae Rim, who performed “Believer” by Imagine Dragons and successfully moved on to the next round after receiving all four judges’ votes.

Grade 3 students Park Hyo Lim, Yoo Jae Hyun, Kim Ri Na, and Kim Soo Hye performed Fin.K.L’s “NOW.” As they hadn’t been training for long, the team was initially a bit unstable, but they worked together to show off a powerful performance and managed to pass the first round of audience voting just in time.

The group received praise from Fin.K.L’s Ock Joo Hyun, and both Kim Ri Na and Kim Soo Hye were able to move onto the next round. However, after it was revealed that there had been a system error, the girls were called back on stage and Yoo Jae Hyun was also given a pass from the judges.

Next, Kim Min Sol, Kim Jung Yoon, and Bohme Sara covered the Spice Girls’ “Wannabe,” and all three contestants moved on to the next round.

Lee Si Yul also received a pass from the judges after performing “Goodbye” by SHINee‘s Taemin.

Kim Ji Yeon of Grade 3 similarly moved on to the next round after covering “Fiancé” by WINNER‘s Song Mino.

Grade 1 students Kim Yoo Min, Kim Min Joo, Oh Yoo Jin and Choi Da Sol performed both Kim Yong Im’s “Today is Young Day” and 2NE1’s “Fire.” Out of the four, only Kim Min Joo and Oh Yoo Jin received a pass for the next round.

The next performance was Won Ji Min and Ju Hyo Rin from Grade 2 singing Red Velvet – Irene & Seulgi’s “Monster.” Despite some injuries during their practice, the girls successfully received the votes of all four judges and moved on to the next round.

The final team was Kim Min Ji, Choi Yoon Jung, and Jo Ye Ju, who expressed confidence in their team and their performance of 4Minute’s “Crazy.” Although Jo Ye Ju had to perform seated due to a collarbone injury, the trio was easily able to pass both rounds of judging.

“My Teen Girl” airs every Sunday at 9 p.m. KST.
