Sebastian Kehl has given an update on Julian Brandt’s condition after the Borussia Dortmund midfielder was stretchered off on Saturday following a collision with Dayot Upamecano.

Borussia Dortmund received a big scare during their game against Bayern Munich on Saturday evening, as Julian Brandt was forced to go off on a stretcher after a nasty head collision with Dayot Upamecano. The 25 year old was taken to a hospital straight away and the Black and Yellows gave him the all clear on Saturday, saying that he is doing well under the circumstances.

Sebastian Kehl has now revealed that Brandt suffered a concussion as a result of his collision with Bayern Munich’s Upamecano. The Borussia Dortmund head of players department added that the attacking midfielder is doing much better after spending the night at a hospital.

"“He suffered a concussion, but otherwise everything is fine and he’s doing much better after spending a night in the hospital,” Kehl told Kicker. “We are all very relieved, we were lucky.”"

The news will come as a huge sigh of relief for Borussia Dortmund. It was a very worrying sight as Brandt went down after the collision on Saturday and both sets of players immediately signalled for the medical staff to get to the pitch quickly.

Brandt was one of Borussia Dortmund’s best players on Saturday before he was forced to come off. The German international not only scored the opening goal, but he also put in a solid all-round performance for his side.
