A Rhode Island man died Saturday night in a wrong-way crash in Uxbridge, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Troopers were called around 9:40 p.m. for a report of a crash involving two vehicles on Route 146 northbound in Uxbridge. Troopers arrived at the scene and learned a wrong-way driver crashed into another vehicle.

State police said a preliminary investigation shows that 35-year-old Jonathan Marmol of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, was driving southbound in a 2004 Honda Accord when he crossed the median into the northbound side of the highway striking a 2018 Subaru Outback.

“Both vehicles were engulfed in flames as a result of the crash,” state police said.

The driver of the Subaru is a 62-year-old man from West Boylston. He was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Marmol died at the scene.

Authorities continue to investigate the fatal crash.
