Pep Guardiola had already hailed Bernardo Silva as the best player in the league currently, even ahead of Mo Salah and the Portuguese could not prove him wrong against Watford at the Vicarage road.

Bernardo Silva was one of the proactive players for Manchester City yesterday and was absolutely flying. The 27-year-old displayed a high work rate and a stupendous finishing ability to seal a sensational brace, taking his goal tally in the Premier League this season to seven goals.

Perhaps, Bernardo Silva’s second goal which was a bender was the most satisfying one to watch. Fair to say, Pep Guardiola’s words were under the scanner before City even took the field against Watford and the Portuguese midfielder proved his boss right.

"Speaking after the game, Pep Guardiola said:“I want to say thank you, because after what I said, with the performance that he has done [vs Watford], he didn’t prove me wrong. So, thank you,”Speaking about the tensed situation at the top of the table, Guardiola said,Another good performance, and we continue the level we have done these last two months, three more points and now to Germany. Today one team dropped points, next week it can be us, it can be Liverpool. Now comes the toughest part of the season with many games. We’re going to try to continue at this level, in this rhythm.“Everyone is back, it doesn’t matter who plays, playing a good level, consistent and winning games but in football everything can go down in one second. I’m more than pleased with what the guys have done in a tough period… we keep going with this rhythm.”‘Source: Sky Sports"

Manchester City and Liverpool have overtaken Chelsea after yesterday saw the reigning UEFA Champions League champions drop points against West Ham United last night. The Blues lost the London Derby 3-2, effectively putting their position at the top of the table in jeopardy.

City will go up against RB Leipzig, Wolves, Leeds United, Newcastle, and Leicester City in December and are expected to make it a perfect five in five. The Cityzens have been presented with a golden opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the table in the toughest period in the football season.

It will be interesting to see what Pep Guardiola does and the rotation he employs, to eliminate the risk of injuries. The availability of Phil Foden and Jack Grealish, and Raheem Sterling coming back to his best will certainly come as a boost to Pep Guardiola. The Englishman has fought his way back into Pep’s XI and the injuries to Phil Foden and Jack Grealish came as a blessing in disguise for the former Liverpool man.

Do you think Manchester City can capitalise on the relatively ‘easier’ set of fixtures in December?

Let us know.
