If the Buffalo Sabres were hoping
Malcolm Subban would be an answer to their current goaltending issues, his debut with the team is surely a disappointment. Subban was picked up in a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks this week (future considerations) and made not only his debut for Buffalo, but his season debut in the NHL as well. With Craig Anderson on the injured list, the Sabres haven't been having much luck with
Dustin Tokarski and
Aaron Dell.
Subban ended up letting in six goals on 19 shots against the Carolina Hurricanes (.735 save percentage). Then, halfway through the third, Subban called a trainer out to the ice and seemed to be pointing to the lower part of his leg. He left and was replaced by Dell. Not what Subban and the Sabres were hoping for. With
Marc-Andre Fleury coming to the Blackhawks, Subban ended up losing out on the backup position there to
Kevin Lankinen. Subban had been playing in the AHL until Saturday night.
