TECUMSEH, Mich. (WTVG) - Charges are pending against a juvenile suspect accused of making threats against the Tecumseh Public Schools winter formal dance, according to a joint statement from the school district and the Tecumseh Police Department on Monday.

The suspect was taken into police custody. Authorities are not releasing details of the threat or the charges as the investigation is ongoing.

The district postponed the dance after authorities were made aware of a threat on Saturday afternoon.

Michigan State Police troopers contacted school officials to make them aware of the threat, they said Saturday. They also said someone made the tip through the OK2SAY app, which is automatically investigated by state troopers and sent to other local authorities.

Officials said Monday they have no information indicating any students, staff, or schools are currently in any danger.

“While we know this event was incredibly upsetting and the rescheduling of

the dance was inconvenient, we are truly grateful for the support of this community and believe this was the safest decision for all concerned,” the joint statement read.

Police are still investigating. The event was originally scheduled for Saturday. The ‘Snowflake Soiree’ will now happen on Dec. 10.
