Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is watching the Big 12 Championship, and the former Texas Tech product doesn’t like what he sees.

Do either Baylor or Oklahoma State want to win the Big 12 Championship? We assume at the end of four quarters and perhaps a little more, a trophy will be rewarded to one of these teams, but perhaps we could skip it entirely and start Georgia vs Alabama early.

Mahomes is a fan of high-scoring, Big 12 football ever since his playing days. The Tyler, Texas native went to Texas Tech from 2014-16, before being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. In Lubbock, he 11,252 yards with a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 93:29. He’ll forever be a Red Raiders legend.

So, Mahomes has every right to talk some smack. He did so on Saturday afternoon.

College Football Playoff: Can Oklahoma State or Baylor make it into top-4?

Oklahoma State — currently ranked No. 5 in the College Football Playoff rankings after beating Oklahoma in Bedlam last week — has the best chance. Should they win, and one of the top-4 fall out thanks to Championship Saturday, Mike Gundy’s squad could sneak in.

As for Baylor and Dave Aranda, the Bears are ranked ninth, and would require some CFP magic to receive the necessary happenings to jump into the top-4. Baylor would have to leap Ole Miss, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State and one of Alabama, Cincinnati or Michigan to make it in. Odds are Georgia is playing in the CFP even should they lose to Bama on Saturday afternoon.

It’s a tall task, to say the least. Yet, even a Big 12 Championship is a great accomplishment for Aranda in just his second year on the job, and a building block for the future at Baylor.
