Star Wars: Temuera Morrison Shares How He Prepared to Play Boba Fett

There is little doubt that Temuera Morrison is the best person out there who should be playing Boba Fett. However, it looks like the Aquaman star didn't know much about the former bounty hunter before he was cast as Boba in The Mandalorian Season 2. Luckily, Morrison had the best way to prepare for his role and it didn't involve having to watch the original Star Wars films over and over again.

People were understandably thrilled when Morrison was confirmed to play Boba Fett in The Mandalorian Season 2. The character even got his own special episode where he took on a group of Stormtroopers and opened a can of whoop-ass on them.

So did Morrison prepare for Boba's spin-off series? The Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom star shared with SFX Magazine that he was initially concerned about the show revealing too much about his character. However, Morrison stated that the people behind The Book of Boba Fett clearly know what they're doing.

“Yes, and that’s where we kind of opened up too much of the can at times, I think,” Morrison said. “I did have my reservations, but hey, I trust the people I work with.”

He then pointed out that The Book of Boba Fett co-executive producer Dave Filoni was there to help him figure out his own character better.

“I was so lucky I had people like Dave Filoni who has an ability to connect some of the dots – some of the ancient dots – and to keep that authenticity. I relied on him a lot because I’m not one of these actors that reads every comic book and every bounty hunter book,” Morrison said.

It certainly sounds like Filoni continues to be the go-to guy when it comes to understanding Star Wars characters. Filoni has already proven that he knows exactly what fans need and there is little doubt that we'll be seeing that in The Book of Boba Fett later this month.

The Book of Boba Fett premieres on Disney+ on December 29, 2021.
