An Ohio man was convicted on murder charges for the killing of two teenagers he shot without warning when he caught them smoking marijuana in his garage.

A jury in Montgomery County found Victor Santana, 65, of Dayton, guilty Thursday of fatally shooting two teenagers, both 17, who were trespassing in a car in his garage in 2019. His charges included four counts of murder, one count of attempt to commit murder, and four counts of felonious assault against victims Javier Harrison and Devin Henderson.

Harrison and Henderson’s parents said that the guilty verdict brought them peace after two years of fighting.

“I feel emotional now,” Linda Henderson said. “They can finally get some rest, and I can get some sleep.”

A third man, Ja’shin Gibson, who was 19 at the time, hid under the car and was a witness to the attack. In his testimony at the trial, he said the group thought the car and the garage were abandoned. Santana fired his gun at them without verbal warning upon finding them on his property, Gibson said.

“He didn’t say nothing at all,” he said.

The defense said Santana heard the teenagers enter his property at night and feared they would hurt him.

Santana’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for Dec. 20.
