An updated look at the NBA MVP Ladder, which has transformed into a battle between Kevin Durant and Steph Curry.

After the first quarter of the 2021-22 NBA season has passed, the MVP race is heating up. Teams are beginning to find their chemistry with one another while the franchise player is putting up spectacular numbers.

As we dive into the second installment of the MVP ladder, let’s see which players have moved in the rankings.

Honorable Mention: Luka Doncic

The Dallas Mavericks are nowhere near as successful without Luka Doncic. So far, the Mavs have kept themselves afloat in the Western Conference despite all of their struggles. As Doncic continues to ascend year by year, his performances have been top-notch as he tries to slide into the MVP race.

Doncic is averaging 25.6 points per game along with 8.6 assists and eight rebounds. Although the Mavericks aren’t at the top of the NBA, Doncic still manages to be the most exciting player in the NBA with his skill and high basketball IQ. Just watching Doncic knockdown game-winning shots around with acrobatic finishes will continue to have the word anticipate what he does next.

If the Mavericks can find a way to start a winning streak, Doncic can creep into the top five in MVP favorites. Can he allow his teammates to grow and become better contributors this season? As the leader of the team, Doncic is continuing to do his job by showing up and playing his hardest. Now the challenge is how he can place the same energy in his team.
