CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Impairment is a factor in a fatal crash that shut down southbound Interstate 75 near the Paddock Road exit early Saturday, Cincinnati police said.

It happened about 5:30 a.m. in Carthage, according to Cincinnati Police Captain Brian Norris.

A 2015 Ford Mustang traveling southbound on I-75 ran off the road and hit a semi tractor-trailer parked on the right shoulder, he said.

The driver of Mustang was pronounced dead at the scene, Norris said.

The semi-driver was not injured.

The name of the Mustang driver will be released once his family is notified, Norris said.

The crash closed the southbound lanes of the highway until 8:30 a.m.

Any witnesses to the crash are asked to contact the Cincinnati Police Department’s Traffic Unit at (513) 352-2514.
