I would like to respond to the announcement in the Nov. 18 Sun Journal concerning Peggy Rotundo running for election again.

We keep saying it’s time for change, and yet we continue to reelect the same people to represent us, people who have spent years and years in office, and nothing ever changes. It’s the definition of insanity.

There are many young adults who would like to run for office but feel they must toe the party line to get any support. When our present representatives began in politics, they were much younger and faced many of the same obstacles; they were able to assimilate into the fabric of the time, and new young representative in both parties will do the same.

I am a conservative and find several of our new younger representatives in both parties a breath of fresh air; they are not afraid to break rank with their own parties on issues they feel are not in the best interests of their constituents or the country.

Multi-term politicians have become entrenched in their party’s ideology and nothing changes. It’s time to fill the trench with new soil.

It is embarrassing to see how present-day politicians speak to one another, and the inflammatory remarks by people in the media. If change is to be made, it will be made by new blood.

The future belongs to the young. It’s time to encourage and support more of them to become involved.
