Marine board recognizes locals who have saved lives on river

The Oregon State Marine Board recognized several local individuals with its Life Saving Award last week.

Local police officers, sheriff's deputies and others are among the five individuals recognized last week by a state agency for their efforts to save lives.

The Oregon State Marine Board meted its Life Saving Award to "individuals who have exhibited heroism, going above and beyond the call of duty, by directly attempting to rescue one or more persons involved in a water-related incident," a Nov. 28 release from the organization said.
