GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A Greensboro woman was killed in a crash in Greensboro on Friday evening, according to Greensboro police.
At 6:43 p.m., officers responded to the 3200 block of East Gate City Boulevard, near the I-40 East ramp.
Michelle Espino, 20, of Greensboro, was driving her 2014 Toyota Corolla west on East Gate City Boulevard and tried to turn left onto I-40.
Police say Espino failed to yield the right of way to a 2020 Toyota Tacoma driven by a 57-year-old Julian man, and the vehicles crashed.
Espino was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Emma Dorado, 42, of Greensboro, was the front passenger in the Corolla. She was taken to the hospital where she died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the Tacoma was left with non-life-threatening injuries.
Espino has been charged for failure to yield right of way and misdemeanor death by vehicle.
The road was closed for several hours but has since been re-opened.
The Crash Reconstruction Unit is conducting this ongoing investigation.
