The City of Austin Economic Development Department is getting ready to welcome shoppers to the ATX+EGYPT Fashion Pop-Up.
The pop-up store will feature clothing, jewelry, leather goods, and more, designed by Austin and Egyptian fashion designers participating in the ATX+EGYPT Entrepreneurship Program.
The year-long international business development program was designed to support the global expansion of Austin-based fashion businesses, and prepare small businesses for a worldwide marketplace.
The store is open during the holiday shopping season, Monday to Saturday 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Sunday from 12 - 5 p.m. at 225 West 2nd Street.
Sylnovia Holt-Rabb, the Acting Director for the Austin Economic Development Department, says the store will support fashion designers and “provides fashion designers from Cairo with an opportunity to access the U.S. market.”
The ATX+EGYPT Fashion Pop-Up is funded through a grant from the U.S. Embassy Cairo and operates through a partnership between the City of Austin, the ACC Fashion Incubator, Fashion By Texas, La Reina, and Macy’s.
Nina Means, the ACC Fashion Incubator Director invited Macy’s, to support the pop-up shop delivery team with guidance and equipment for training, and says the team is “thrilled to welcome global designers to this in-store experience,”
In February of 2022, a store will pop up in Egypt and will feature Austin fashion brands.
