It's easy to forget in the midst of the Golden State Warriors' phenomenal start that they're still missing some key pieces. Klay Thompson is yet to suit up for the squad, as he continues to work his way towards a return from injury. Now, we have some intel on when he's coming back and what's taking him so long.

Famed NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski talked to Klay Thompson's manager, and relayed some important information about the Warriors guard's return. First, he reiterated that the timeline for Thompson to come back will likely come around or after Christmas. Secondly, he revealed why Klay Thompson isn't exactly rushing to make a return to the court. (via NBA on ESPN)

[Right now, Klay] could play 25-30 minutes in an NBA game. He's ready to do that. But what Klay wants … is to be conditioned at a very high level.”

Warriors fans (and really, all basketball fans) want Thompson to come back as soon as possible. For Thompson, though, it's a matter of getting back into the best possible shape. Recent workout videos have shown that he hasn't lost his stroke, but practice is a lot more different than the actual game. With the Warriors squarely in title contention territory, Thompson wants to make sure he can be of immediate help when he returns.

Also, Klay Thompson is returning from TWO major lower body injuries. The first is an ACL tear he suffered during the Warriors' last Finals appearance in 2019. The other is an Achilles tear he suffered while rehabbing the ACL tear. Thompson is making sure everything is a-ok with his body before diving into the grueling NBA schedule.

The Warriors are already looking mighty dangerous. With Klay Thompson set to return from his injury, they might just be unstoppable.
