Taxiway – “Irish Goodbye”

A melancholic crooner about self-doubt and slipping into addiction, “Irish Goodbye” is a new track from Nashville-based band Taxiway. “I’ve got a knot in my stomach, I feel a lapse in my brain,” the vocals begin over solemn guitar tones. The percussion kicks in alongside lyrics of self-doubt, lamenting “Does anybody like me, or are they just being polite? / I wish I didn’t have to be so drunk, just to feel alright.” Vocally, the emotive tone reminds of Matthew Good Band, though with a more subdued, contemplative vein of melancholy. “Irish Goodbye” captivates with its intimate look at struggle amidst moving guitar twangs.

“Irish Goodbye” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2021’ Spotify playlist.
