The Philadelphia Flyers enter the month of December reeling.

The orange and black is in the middle of a a brutal seven-game losing streak and things are getting any easier this weekend with the Tampa Bay Lightning coming to Philly on Sunday night, a good Colorado team on Monday, before they head out on a three-game road trip.

The struggling Flyers came in at No. 23 on this weeks ESPN NHL Power Rankings after landing at No. 16 the previous week.

So how do they end this awful losing streak?  The team has had some good goaltending during the skid, but hasn't been able to put the puck in the net after averaging 2.7 goals per game over the first 14 games where they went 8-2-2.  Since then, they are scoring just 1.7 per game during this seven game losing streak.

So to rise in the rankings, which Flyer needs to step his game up?

According to ESPN NHL reporter Kristen Shilton, its time Philadelphia gets more from Cam Atkinson.

Momentum is a funny thing. Atkinson arrived in Philadelphia to score six goals in his first five games. He scored one goal and added three assists in his next 15. That's been hard on the Flyers, who have been shut out three times in the past month and have scored more than two goals in a game only three times through that stretch. Philadelphia wanted Atkinson for a reason, and he has to show it again.

Atkinson was acquired this offseason in exchange for Jakub Voráček, got off to a hot start in Philly, but has been quiet as of late. Atkinson scored the game-winning goal in overtime in the Flyers 2-1 win over the Calgary Flames, which was the last time the Flyers won a game, back on Nov. 16.

So far this season, Atkinson has seven goals on the season to go along with five assists, good for just 12 points in 21 contests.

As for the man he was traded for, Voráček, has one goal and 17 assists for the Blue Jackets.
