He helped Ventura get $8 million in damages from Southern California Edison following the Thomas Fire, and his office worked out deals for the city to open its first permanent homeless shelter.
Now, Ventura City Attorney Greg Diaz is retiring.
Diaz has been a legal advisor for municipalities for decades. Before joining the City of Ventura in 2014, he served as City Attorney for Merced. And, he helped with the legal aspects of creating nine new cities over the decades, including Buellton.
Diaz will step down later this month. Senior Assistant City Attorney Andy Hegland will serve as interim City Attorney while a search is conducted for a permanent replacement.
