Mesa County Coroner’s Office confirms two deaths

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) – The Mesa County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the two deaths from an incident in the Redlands area to be the result of a homicide/suicide.

On December 1 at about 10 a.m., the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible weapons offense at a home in the 100 block of Mesa Vista Road. A witness reported receiving a minor injury when a member of the household shot at them. The witness was able to leave the home safely and call 911.

Mesa Vista Road and South Broadway Drive were closed and residents in the immediate area were told to shelter in place.

The coroner says a 44-year-old man died from multiple gunshot wounds. Additionally, a 24-year-old man died from a single gunshot wound.

Due to the sensitive nation of the situation, the family has requested that we not report the names of the deceased. KREX is honoring their request and will not be reporting the names at this time.
