Dr. Catherine McDowell, Gordon-Conwell alumna and Associate Professor of Old Testament, and Dr. Philip Towner, Professor at Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome, released a new book this week titled The Rewards of Learning Greek and Hebrew: Discovering the Richness of the Bible in its Original Languages.
Writing in English to an audience who has never studied the biblical languages, Dr. McDowell and Dr. Towner highlight the importance of learning Greek and Hebrew for a more accurate and rich reading of Scripture. They present case studies and testimonials from former students to show specific ways in which one’s understanding of the Bible can be enriched through biblical languages.
