Lilyisthatyou Signs With Warner Records, Celebrates With ‘Party 22’ Single: Exclusive

The Toronto pop artist's "FMRN" song has taken off on streaming services.

Pop artist Lilyisthatyou has signed with Warner Records following the viral success of her self-released “FMRN” single, Billboard can exclusively announce. The Toronto native, who emerged after her sex-positive single took off on streaming services since its release in July, joins Warner with a bang, releasing her new single “Party 22” to celebrate.

“What immediately struck me about Warner Records was their eagerness to prove there was space for me at such an iconic label. They didn’t once make me feel like I would be competing with some of the biggest artists in the world – instead we talked about how to get me there too,” Lilyisthatyou said about signing with Warner in a statement.

“Growing up as an independent artist, there has always been a lot of negative talk about major labels and the way they can impact small creators coming into such a big system. With Warner Records, I feel at least one person reminds every day how much they believe in me,” she added. “Aaron Bay-Schuck, Tom Corson, Gabz Landman and everyone at the label are so open to my music, and open to the message. I have no doubts we will achieve so much together over the course of my career.”

The singer born Lily Davies aims to “party like it’s 2022” in the uptempo new single, which is meant to be a dance anthem for the post-COVID world. “I want to create anthems people will remember from the year the world really came back to life,” she said about the new single.

“I just hope ‘Party 22’ makes people move, I hope it gets somebody out of bed and dancing through the day. I hope screaming this song at the top of your lungs helps you let go of 2021 and whatever chaos it brought. This song to me, is alive, it’s so full of life and empowerment, I’m really proud of it,” she added.

Lilyisthatyou has been writing songs since she was 13 years old with a makeshift studio setup in her bedroom, and got a taste of virality with July’s “FMRN” single.

“We were instantly captivated by Lilyisthatyou’s empowering perspective and fearlessness on “FMRN.” From her innate ability to craft hit songs – which are not only catchy but carry important messages – to her life experience beyond her 21 years, relentless work ethic, and endless ambition, Lily was an absolute must-sign,” said Warner CEO and co-Chairman Aaron Bay-Schuck and vp of A&R Gabz Landman in a statement. “It’s no surprise that she’s already earned viral success and won over a global fan base, and we’re beyond excited to embark on this next chapter with her.”

“Lily is an undeniable talent, her passion and work ethic is unmatched and you can’t help but feel something when listening to her music,” said Lily’s manager Marvin Alyas of Until Successful. “Lily and my team at Until Successful are excited to partner with Tom Corson, Aaron Bay-Schuck, and everyone at Warner Records to share Lily’s music, vision and empowering message with the world.”
